Robert M. Parker Jr. is the world’s pre-eminent wine critic. Ever since he applied a 100-point rating system to the tasting of wine over thirty years ago, every consumer of wine has had a standardized format by which they can understand the perceived quality of any vintage of any wine scored.
His system has been adopted or adapted all over the globe and his publication The Wine Advocate is famous for its independence. It really is impossible to underplay the significance and influence of Parker on the world of fine wine investment; the massive following his ratings now attract produces a marked effect on the cost of any well scored – or not so well scored – vintage.
